In the poem, The Guest House, Rumi is using the metaphor of a guest house to form an image that each day is an opportunity to experience something new in our lives, even if it’s unexpected.
When things don’t turn out the way you want them to, it can be hard to stay optimistic. However, there is always an opportunity in adversity. A job loss could turn into a chance to start your own business. A bad break up could lead you to someone better. The loss of someone you love can inspire you to continue his or her legacy. Sometimes the best way to “find yourself” is in the dark. New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings. Stay encouraged! ~ Maria More
