I confess. I didn’t know what to write today. I could’ve skipped this week as I have done in the past, but I was guided to share a photo of myself with friends at an art exhibition we attended two weeks ago.
Looking at the photo again I believe my friend in the middle may have a girl crush on me.
I joined Orangetheory Fitness back in August. Ever heard of it? Their classes combine strength training and cardio and someone yelling over blaring music where to go and how much more minutes you have.
For a month I wore ear plugs because the music was too loud and when the young instructor comes over and says I can push myself more, I’ll look at him and point to my earbuds and mouth “can’t hear you”.
I told my son in a previous conversation that I felt I was in boot camp. He laughed. This class doesn’t compare to what he went through.
Last week the coach and I were having small talk and he said he was going to San Diego to visit friends from Camp Pendleton; a Marine base. He joined the Marines because he and his father didn’t get along and this was his exit point. I told him my son is also a Marine, they’re both the same age; and my son currently lives in San Diego.
They never crossed paths and yet they’re both in my life now (until I cancel my membership).
To all those who have served, and those who continue to serve… Thank You!
